☕ Cosmic Tea: January 2026: Capricorn Season
This January, Mars, Mercury, Venus, anddddd the Sun, glide into Capricorn!
Capricorn is a Saturn-ruled rashi (constellation), an earth sign rooted in boundaries, karma, responsibility, hard work, and discipline. However, it’s through the Capricorn-based Nakshatras that we fully grasp how this energy will manifest in our lives.
Nakshatras, Lunar Mansions, are one of the most important foundations of Jyotisha.
They track the planetary movements through 27 segments spanning 13º 20’ of the zodiac, influencing our emotions, habits, and daily experiences.
When evaluating a natal chart, Jyotishis use Nakshatras to establish timings, explain our innate inclinations, emotional patterns, and karmic themes. By understanding them, we learn how timing affects moods, relationships, decisions, and spiritual growth.
The three Nakshatra that occur in Capricorn:
Uttara Ashadha, The Star of Universality, is located between 26º 40’ Sagittarius and 10º 00’ Capricorn. Its symbol is an Elephant’s tusk, and it is ruled by the ten Viśvadevas.
This Nakshatra embodies the energy of honesty, sincerity, being respected and valued for your advice, new beginnings, removing obstacles, and being able to commence new enterprises, seeing them through to their natural conclusions!
Shravana, the Star of Listening, Learning, and Teaching, is located between 10º 00’ and 23º 20’ of Capricorn. Lineages recognise either an Ear or Three Footprints its symbol. It’s ruled by the deity Vishnu, the preserver of the cosmos.
This Nakshatra is about the study of languages, sacred oral traditions, teaching, preserving knowledge, kindness, and being charitable. We use this energy to sharpen discernment through listening.
Dhanishta, The Star of Organization and Leadership, is located between 23º 20’ Capricorn and 6º 40’ Aquarius. Its symbol is a drum, and its deities are the eight Vedic gods known as the Vasus.
This nakshatra understands rhythm, timing, and collective success.
3 January: Full Moon in Ardra (Gemini)
The beginning of January 2026 blessed us with a Full Moon in Ardra, the nakshatra located between 6º 20 to 20º 40’ of Gemini, ruled by Rudra, the Vedic storm god who governs truth through release.
This Full Moon, the energy of Gemini activated our speech and thought patterns, allowing us to examine the landscape of our inner worlds. Many of us experienced sudden realizations and were prompted to engage in decisive conversations.
Ardra Nakshatra promotes emotional and mental purification. Much like the Tower card, this full moon initiated release to remove what did not belong in the first place.
This clearing quietly prepared the ground for the Capricorn transits that follow, making space for structure, commitment, and long-term direction.
12 January - 5 February: Venus Transits Capricorn
Venus’ transit through Capricorn shifts the entire landscape of the dating pool this winter quarter.
Within Capricorn, we see love unfolding through patience, accountability, and trust built over time. This is the season where actions speak louder than words. We actively practice patience, set and uphold our boundaries, and only accept lovers who are consistent.
If you want to find a love that resonates most with your soul, stop blocking your blessings. Do you really think doing charity work, entertaining someone’s crusty, dusty, musty son, will lead to find your person? Exactly, cut it out.
It’s 2026, enough playing it safe:
Discuss politics, values, and morals upfront.
Gravitate toward lovers who plan, follow up, and respect your time.
Set and enforce your boundaries.
Trust your intuition.
Venus in Capricorn values intimacy cultivated slowly over time. Prioritize lovers who don’t rush your connection. If someone disappears, stalls, or keeps things vague, in the words of our Lord and Saviour Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter, “TO THE LEFT”.
For partnered people, Venus in Capricorn brings relationship housekeeping to the forefront. Conversations regarding shared responsibilities, future planning, and resources are alllll on the table. The best way to express your love is through decisions that support your relationship as a whole. This is a strong period for building something tangible together, whether that means financial planning, redefining boundaries, or committing to a shared goal.
During Capricorn season, Venus passes through the Nakshatras, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, and Dhanishta, each adding a different tone to our love lives and relationships:

Venus transits Dhanishtha from 31 January to 10 February, bringing a new rhythm to your dynamic and encouraging partnerships that move forward with directional purpose.
Taken together, these Nakshatras reward love that is intentional, grounded, and built to last.
14 January – 12 February: Sun Transits Capricorn
To track the movement of the planets, Jyotish utilizes the sidereal zodiac. Thia factors in the ecliptic, the slow wobble of Earth’s axis that shifts the zodiac about 1º every 72 years.
Western astrology, however, does not factor in the ecliptic and consequently is about 24º off. For example, I grew up thinking I was a Sun Pisces, however, I am not. I am a Sun Aquarius.
